CNA paid $40mn ransom to resolve March attack: report

Chicago-based insurer CNA Financial paid $40mn to regain control of its network following a ransomware attack in March, according to a report by Bloomberg News.

Citing two people familiar with the matter, the financial news outlet said that the carrier paid the ransom to the hackers about two weeks after company data was stolen, and after executives remained locked out of the company’s network.
