AM Best upgrades market outlook for US commercial lines to ‘stable’

AM Best upgraded its outlook for US P&C commercial lines from “stable” to “negative”, citing a modest negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which was a key driver of the prior downgrade to negative.

Other key factors supporting the upgrade include strong pricing momentum across the sector, except for workers' comp. AM Best analyst Jacqalene Lentz also noted strong underwriting performance throughout the pandemic and favorable court rulings on business interruption coverage cases.
