All eyes are on the Federal Reserve meeting next month, after the consumer price index showed a surge to a 7.5% annual pace in January today, a level not seen since 1982.

The consumer-price index rose 0.6% in January from a month earlier, the Labor Department reported Thursday, showing a pickup from December’s 0.5%
