With options dwindling for a special legislative session and the reinsurance renewal cycle in full swing, carriers and consumers in the Florida homeowners’ market are being left to fend for themselves to grapple with excessive litigation and increased claims.

Demotech CEO and president Joe Petrelli told Inside P&C that he expects to downgrade more insurers as the ratings agency evaluates reinsurance plans.
