Hurricane Ian was not a significant event for homeowners’ InsurTech Hippo, as the company’s expected losses from the Category 4 storm in Florida were about a third below the average model estimate, management has said.

Speaking on a call with analysts, president and CEO Rick McCathron said the company entered Florida exclusively through homebuilder policies, which support newer homes that are built to better withstand damage.
