Fed raises rates by 25 bps, hinting more hikes are on the way

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates further by 25 basis points (bps) on Wednesday, noting that inflation has eased but remains elevated.

The central bank set its policy at a range of 4.5%-4.75% – the highest it's been since 2007.

Yet, the latest move marks a deceleration from December’s 50 bps hike, which followed four consecutive increases of 75 bps.
