ProAssurance Q4 lower reserve releases driven by HCPL loss trends: CFO

ProAssurance’s lower favorable reserve development in Q4 from the prior-year period was driven by its response to loss severity trends in healthcare professional liability, CFO Dana Hendricks has said.

The insurer reported yesterday that its Q4 combined ratio increased 7.2 points to 104.2%, as it booked a $5mn reserve release, which represented a favorable effect on its underwriting results of 2%, down from 6.7%
