Twia committee proposes 5% rate hike for residential, 8% for commercial policies

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association’s (Twia) actuarial and underwriting committee has recommended rate increases of 5% for residential and 8% for commercial policies to its board of directors.

The proposal regards 2024 policies and is based on this year’s rate adequacy analysis, which indicated that Twia’s rates are inadequate by 20% for residential coverage and 22% for commercial coverage.
