Hawaiian Electric slams Maui County’s wildfire lawsuit as ‘factually and legally irresponsible’

Hawaiian Electric has denied responsibility for the Lahaina Fire, calling the lawsuit filed by Maui County last week “factually and legally irresponsible”.

The county filed the suit against the utility company and its subsidiaries on Thursday, claiming it had kept power lines energized despite wind and fire warnings issued by the National Weather Service in early August.
