Two studies from well-known cybersecurity firms have found that 31% of companies are unable to restore system data from back-up after it has been encrypted by a ransomware attacker; at the same time, criminals are changing tactics to both go after bigger targets while shifting their methods away from encrypting a target’s sensitive data to threatening to release that data publicly.
