Specialty MGA UK has appointed Humberto Contasta as head of treaty for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Based in Miami, Contasta will be responsible for increasing the firm’s book of business by developing a new marketing plan and building brand awareness, the firm said.
He joins from Odyssey Re, where he was vice president of treaty underwriting, prior to which he spent five years at Trans Re.
Group chairman for the MGA, Manoj Kumar, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Humberto to the team and know his contacts and knowledge of the Latin American market will be invaluable as we look to grow our presence.
“I’m sure he will help us deliver for clients and continue Specialty MGA’s incredible growth so far.”
The appointment follows a similar one in the market as Brit hired QBE’s David Cary as its deputy head of property treaty for Bermuda.
