Severe flooding in the state of Hawaii has severely damaged homes and destroyed two bridges, according to media reports.

Floodwaters swept through the island of Maui on Wednesday, causing damage to at least six properties.

State officials also ordered evacuations after heavy rainfall led to the cresting of the Kaupakalua dam in the island’s northern region of Haiku.
