Burns & Wilcox owner HW Kaufman Group has bought a historic office building in downtown Detroit, Michigan, in a transaction that chairman, president and CEO Alan Kaufman says will bring the company back to its roots.

The insurance conglomerate was founded in Detroit over 50 years ago but is now headquartered 23 miles away in Farmington Hills, in the city’s suburbs.
