RenaissanceRe expects Winter Storm Uri to cost around $180mn in net claims, providing an indicator of the impact of the devastating weather event on the Bermuda reinsurance market ahead of the release of Q1 results in the coming weeks.

RenRe said that while net income will be negative, the company expects to report a “nominal” operating profit in Q1.
