Boston-based Liberty Mutual has named George Serafeim, co-founder of a global sustainable-business consulting firm and Harvard Business School professor, to its board of directors.

His appointment comes as companies within the insurance sector place greater emphasis on incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into their business operations.
