S&P Global Ratings has affirmed its long-term credit rating of BBB on Arthur J Gallagher and revised its outlook for the broker to positive from stable, arguing that the transaction puts the Chicago-based intermediary in a “stronger competitive position”.

The credit ratings agency said Gallagher’s financial risk position will “remain unchanged” as a result of the transformational acquisition, which establishes the firm as the world’s third largest reinsurance broker.
