Texas surplus lines premiums rise by 15%, hit record of $885mn in May

Insurance agents in Texas moved a record $885mn of premiums into the excess and surplus lines (E&S) market in May, an increase of 14.5% over May 2020, data from the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) showed.

May 2021 was the largest single month ever reported in SLTX’s 33-year history, breaking the record of $877mn in premiums set in March of this year.
