JBS USA Holdings paid an $11mn ransom to hackers who forced the number one global beef and poultry producer to shut its operations in North America and Australia for several days, the company said on Wednesday.

The hack was discovered on May 30 a short time before the company’s IT staff found a message demanding a ransom payment.
