Where have all the reinsurers gone?

This weekend, Hurricane Ida crossed over Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane. Historically, whenever a hurricane started approaching the mainland, there would be frenzied discussions in the marketplace on potential exposure for primaries, reinsurers, and retro providers. This was fueled by the fact there were various reinsurance companies in existence with different market shares and penetration.
