Insurance carriers in the Defense Base Act (DBA) market should prepare for an influx of workers’ compensation claims, as government contractors leave Afghanistan in large-scale, said Gallagher Bassett senior client services manager Eric Richardson.

In an interview with Inside P&C, Richardson said that Gallagher Bassett is expecting that 50%-70% of DBA claims filed from contractors in Afghanistan will be for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as civilian workers relocate following President Joe Biden's decision...
