The Hartford’s P&C division swung to a $17mn underwriting loss in the third quarter, as catastrophe costs soared, outweighing higher earned premiums and an improved underlying loss ratio.
The carrier’s combined ratio deteriorated to 100.5% in Q3 from 95.7% in Q3 2020, as the loss ratio climbed to 69.5%
