Not long after news of Root’s mass layoffs began to hit social media, rival InsurTechs and other technology companies moved quickly to capitalize on the auto insurer’s misfortune by immediately working to recruit displaced employees.

Recently terminated Root employees took to social media platforms on Thursday to announce their dismissals, after the auto InsurTech eliminated about 20% of its workforce, in what the firm called an “organizational realignment”.
