WSIA: Surplus lines premiums surged to a record $51bn in 2021

Surplus lines premiums soared 22% to a record-setting $51bn in 2021, according to the latest study by the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA), as the heavy flow of specialty business into the non-admitted channel continued.


The study captures premium volume data from a host of US surplus lines stamping offices, including those for California, New York, Texas and Pennsylvania.
