AM Best: Q3 2021 premium growth leans toward recovery, offset by cat losses and inflation

As Q4 earnings begin to roll out, a new report from ratings agency AM Best has noted that Q3 2021 results show a return to normalcy compared to 2020, with 10% year-over-year growth in direct premiums in the P&C space.

The agency also pointed out that cat insured losses increased drastically compared to 2020.

“Although premium volumes have rebounded with the pandemic slowdown, natural catastrophe insured losses in 2021 were nearly double that of 2020, mainly from Hurricane Ida,” said...
