Ida-related losses reach $10.5bn, paid claims sum $6.5bn: Commissioner Donelon

Payments and reserves associated with Ida-related claims have reached $10.5bn, Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon said in the first report with measures on the damage that the Category 4 hurricane inflicted on the southern state in late August.

As of December 31, 2021, policyholders have filed 434,633 claims of all types from Hurricane Ida, with 83% of them already closed.
