Chubb underwriting profits leap 31% to $1.3bn on core LR improvement

Chubb’s operating income jumped almost 20% in the fourth quarter and its underwriting income surged by almost 31% to $1.3bn, as core underwriting margin expansion powered the company’s earnings higher.

On Tuesday evening the company said it earned $3.81 per share in core operating income, a nearly 20% spike from last year, topping analysts’ $3.29
