The Hartford commercial U/W profits more than double to $387mn as NWP spikes 14%

The Hartford Insurance Group more than doubled its commercial lines underwriting profits to $387mn in the fourth quarter and grew net written premiums by 14% to $2.5bn, more than outweighing a sharp fall in personal lines profits and premium volumes.

The company said on Thursday that it earned $2.02 in operating income per share, a nearly 15% jump from the fourth quarter in 2020, and easily surpassing analysts’ $1.53-per-share
