Over half of listed carriers ‘not earning cost of equity’: McKinsey report

Around 54% of global listed insurers have delivered a return on equity for investors that has been below their cost of equity during the past five years, and public investors “have taken note”, a report from McKinsey & Company said.

The consultancy’s Global Insurance Report 2022 also claims that about 50% of listed insurers worldwide, depending on regions they operate in and their lines of business, have “consistently traded below their book value” during the same period.
