M&A activity in the US specialty distribution space has slowed down 40% to 24 announced deals during Q1 2022, compared to the 40 transactions posted a year earlier. Yet, this first quarter’s activity still marks an increase from Q1 2020, according to boutique investment bank MarshBerry.

The insurance distribution-focused investment bank also noted that specialty firms constitute an increasing proportion of transactions within the broader insurance distribution peer group, making up over a quarter (26%) of total deals in Q1 2022.
