AIG has decreased its first quarter general insurance (GI) combined ratio by 5.9 points to 92.9%, driven mostly by improvements in its North America business, which swung back to underwriting profits, providing fresh credibility to the view that the carrier has landed its P&C turnaround.

AIG’s North America overall CoR declined 17.6 points to 90.8%, while the region’s long troubled commercial lines book swung back to profits, registering a 17.9-point
