Axis Capital is to discontinue its $700mn property reinsurance book as it looks to complete work to refocus on specialty coverage and eliminate cat exposure.

The company did not provide details in its announcement on how the closing of the property reinsurance segment would impact staff, but sources told this publication around 60 roles will be eliminated.
