Consumer prices soar 9.1% in June in steepest rise for 30 years

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a gain of 9.1% in June compared to the same month last year, its biggest rise in 30 years.

The June rise was higher again than the 8.6% increase for the CPI in May.

The eye-popping rise marks the biggest jump in prices since November 1981 and defies expectations of moderating prices.
