Global insured flood losses double to $80bn during 2011-2020: Swiss Re

Global insured flood losses in the decade from 2011 to 2020 were $80bn, double those of the prior 10 years, with losses in 2021 alone reaching $20bn, according to Swiss Re.

The carrier’s latest research said economic growth, a larger population and urbanisation have been the main drivers of losses during the past 20 years.
