September auto insurance prices increase 10.3%, outpacing overall CPI

The annual price increase for motor vehicle insurance accelerated 1.6 points to 10.3% in September, even as the all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI) moderated minimally to an 8.2% gain for the last 12 months.

September's overall CPI was up 0.4 points on a month-to-month basis, after rising 0.1 points in the prior month.
