WR Berkley to move further to fixed income from alternatives as yields rise

Specialty insurer WR Berkley expects interest rates in the US to move higher, leading to a “substantial” increase of yields on its investment portfolio, executive chairman Bill Berkley said during the Goldman Sachs 2022 Financial Services conference.

“We'll move somewhat out of some of our alternatives and more back into fixed income,” Berkley said, adding that his company had invested more in alternatives because the returns on fixed income were “so clammy”.
