NFIP flood reinsurance treaty halves at higher attachments

Fema’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has placed $502.5mn of reinsurance cover for 2023, half the limit it had in place last year, as the attachment points on the treaty escalated significantly.

This fits with the trend of reinsurers pushing for higher attachments and higher rates in the 1 January renewals, with secondary perils such as flood under the microscope.
