New York Governor Kathy Hochul has vetoed the Grieving Families Act (GFA), which overhauled the state's compensation policies in wrongful death cases.

If passed, the New York ruling could have greatly impacted the medical malpractice insurance industry, resulting in higher rates and increased litigation for carriers in the state.
