Admitted homeowners' insurance market in California almost ‘non-existent’

With two of California’s top homeowners' insurers no longer writing new policies, sources told this publication that most new business in wildfire-prone areas will have to flow to the non-admitted market or the state’s market of last resort, the Fair Plan.

That trend already existed before State Farm and Allstate’s announcements, as insurers have been implementing stricter underwriting restrictions in certain parts of the state as far back as three years ago, sources said.
