Direct non-life insurance reserve releases in advanced markets are slowing after a decade of favorable progress, and questions around reserve adequacy are emerging after a series of systemic shocks, according to Swiss Re.

The carrier reported that insurers have overall increased the share of incurred but not reported (IBNR) claims in response to rising claims over the last months.
