Canadian insurer Intact posted C$421mn ($317mn) in pre-tax losses for Q2, the bulk of which were caused by wildfires.

The carrier’s second-quarter catastrophe loss estimate, released Tuesday, revealed that nearly half of the losses in the Canada segment were attributable to wildfires, with the greatest financial impact coming from Atlantic Canada.
