A group of California Congressional reps sent a letter to the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) on Thursday, urging the agency to investigate climate change’s impact on homeowners' insurance coverage options following decisions by State Farm and Allstate not to write new homeowners’ business in the wildfire-ravaged state.

Endorsed by Public Citizen and signed by 10 California representatives, the letter called on the FIO – which last month reported on climate-related issues and gaps in the supervision and regulation of insurers – to continue its data collection...
