RLI left primary energy casualty market in July, following January excess exit: COO

RLI exited the primary energy casualty space in July, following an earlier decision to pull out of the excess energy casualty market in January, according to COO Jennifer Klobnak.

Speaking with analysts during the company’s Q2 earnings call, Klobnak noted that the decision to exit the excess energy casualty market affected RLI’s “ability to offer primary-only policies, and we did not believe the business model was viable long-term”.
