Moody’s RMS again trims pre-landfall Idalia mean loss to $6.3bn

Moody’s RMS has cut its pre-landfall mean loss figure for Hurricane Idalia by a further ~$1bn to $6.3bn as of today, according to sources, as the industry breathed a sigh of relief based on the sparsely populated areas initially impacted by the storm.

Earlier this week, the firm released modelled loss scenarios that showed a mean possible loss of $9.4bn. This mean scenario – which is wind-only – was revised downwards yesterday to $7.2bn.
