Aearo and 3M are seeking around $1.6bn in insurance recoveries to offset a $6bn settlement over Combat Arms earplug announced on Monday.

In a conference call Tuesday discussing the impacts of the settlement with analysts, 3M execs referenced filings from last year noting that 3M and Aero have $550mn in coverage with one insurer and just over $1bn with another.
