Definity posts C$120mn in losses from cat events in July and August

Canadian insurer Definity disclosed a C$120mn ($88mn) hit on operating income Tuesday arising from cat losses in July and August 2023.

The carrier considers cat losses to be an event causing gross losses above C$2mn ($1.5mn) and more than 100 claims, or a single claim with a gross loss above C$3mn ($2.2mn).
