Severe convective storms (SCS) have continued to pummel carriers in the third quarter, ramping up an ongoing shift in the cat landscape as secondary perils take the spotlight for the second quarter in a row.

Out of the early Q3 reporters, a number have reported higher cat loss experience year-on-year for this quarter, as a notable uptick in severe weather conflates with insurers taking more cat risk net.
