Selective will significantly ramp up rates in standard personal lines to address a “clear” shortfall in target profitability, CEO John Marchioni told analysts on the company’s third quarter earnings call.

In Q3, the segment posted a combined ratio of 127.4%, up nearly 26 points from 101.8% in Q3 2022 and well above the carrier’s target CoR of 95%.
