James River CEO Frank D'Orazio said the insurer booked a Q3 E&S reserve charge as it “saw some signs of pressure on its general casualty reserves from the soft market years”.

On a call with analysts, the executive said: “During the quarter, we chose to address what we perceived as some signs of weakness in the 2015 to 2018 years that caused us to make some adjustments to reserves.”
