Canadian insured losses for 2023 at C$3.1bn, fourth largest for the country: CatIQ

Canadian insured losses from catastrophic events reached C$3bn ($2.24bn) in 2023, making it the fourth-worst year for losses in the country’s history, according to CatIQ.

While no single event drove that number, unlike in the top three years, Canada experienced 23 events that generated insured losses above C$30mn for the 12-month period – a new record.
