Global insured cat losses hit $118bn last year, with the number of events causing insured losses of $1bn or more reaching 37 – higher than ever before – according to Aon.

In its 2024 Climate and Catastrophe Insight report, the intermediary tallied 398 natural disasters last year, causing $380bn in economic losses, 22% above the 21st century average.
